Cemex to invest in cement plant expansion in the Philippines

World Cement,

Cemex plans to invest US$65 million in expanding the production capacity of its APO plant in the Philippines. The expansion project, which is due to be completed by 1Q14, will increase the plant’s cement capacity by 1.5 million tpa. The project comes in response to rising cement demand in the country, as the government invests in multiple infrastructure projects following a spate of extreme weather in the region.

“Infrastructure development has been one of the constant needs of the country and it has to be addressed with urgency. We are proud to be a part of the development of the Philippines and wish to be a long-term partner on its path to a prosperous, sustainable future,” commented Pedro Palomino, Country President of Cemex in the Philippines.
