Lucky Cement celebrates World Environment Day

Lucky Cement, Pakistan, celebrated World Environment Day with a tree planting at its Karachi plant. The company has reportedly planted more than 25 000 trees around its plants. Other activities included a campaign to raise awareness among its employees about the importance of living a sustainable life.

The company has been awarded an A+ ranking by the Global Reporting Initiative of the Netherlands for its sustainability disclosures in the company’s last sustainability report.

Lucky Cement is committed to sustainability and is currently investing in a waste heat recovery plant in its Pezu plant, following the installation at its Karachi facility. The company also utilises alternative fuels. Further information on the company’s sustainability initiatives will be available in the October issue of World Cement.
