OHL Industrial has been awarded its first contract in Vietnam, following contracts won by OHL Construcción in the country. The project comprises an overland transportation line that will carry clinker from the Cong Thanh Cement plant to Hanoi’s port for export. The line will be 18 km in length, including seven conveyor belts, which will be 1000 mm wide and have the capacity to handle 1500 tph and a speed of 5 m/s. Due to local flood risks, the line will be elevated. OHL Industrial’s scope of supply involves engineering and FOB supply at a Spanish port of the main parts of the conveyor belts (imported parts), as well as engineering of the parts manufactured locally, including the support structures.
The project in Vietnam is one of five contracts recently announced by OHL Industrial, which are worth a total of €300 million. The company, which is a division of OHL Group, is increasing its focus on market expansion outside of Spain, in terms of both new regional markets and areas in which it is already working. It is particularly interested in Latin America and the Persian Gulf, and has opened offices in Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Oman and the Arab Emirates to facilitate its international expansion plans.
The other contracts include: a 65 MW photovoltaic power plant in Salto, Uruguay; the operation and maintenance of Minera Escondida Ltda’s rhyolite grinding plant in the Atacama Desert, Chile; equipment supply for a granular diammonium phosphate plant in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia; a terminal to store petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas near Amman, Jordan.
