On 11 September, the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust (OOCT) donated 3600 tubes of EUCERIN, a special sunscreen for extremely sensitive skin, to SINASRA in aid of the Namibian Albino Community. The donation, which was officiated at the Windhoek Central Hospital, was made in collaboration with Support e.V. Ulm, Germany, and is the second such donation made by Ohorongo Cement this year.

"SINASRA is doing an excellent job in the prevention of skin cancer in those individuals with Albinism. As OOCT, in collaboration with Support e.V., we are proud to be able to make a difference with our donation of specialised sunscreens. We have to commend Dr Stoermer, Dr Peggy Emwula and Dr. Annelle Zietsman for the hard work they do daily to benefit the Albino community in Namibia," said Carina Sowden, Marketing & Communications Manager of Ohorongo Cement.

“The present number of Albinos in Namibia is close to 1800 according to Hospitals, Schools and Missions. All need specialised sunscreen due to the very sensitive nature of their skins to prevent them from developing skin cancer,” said Dr Peter Stoermer from SINASRA.

Dr Stoermer expressed SINASRA’s sincere appreciation and gratitude for the donation, particularly due to the expensive nature of the specialised sunscreens.
