World Cement,

Dangote Cement is on track to commence production at its 1.5 million tpa cement grinding plant in Cameroon. Management have told press that the plant will begin operating at 1 million tpa and will later step up production to maximum capacity. The US$150 million plant has been constructed by Sinoma and utilises state-of-the-art equipment from Germany, France and the US. The plant will employ around 1000 people directly, while a further 5000 are expected to benefit from indirect employment.

Dangote Cement plans to produce 42.5 grade cement at the plant, and promises to price it competitively. Plans are also in place to build a jetty by the plant, near the Douala sea port, which would make it easier to bring in raw materials and to distribute the product elsewhere.
