Italcementi to establish a 320 MW wind energy plant in Egypt

World Cement,
Italcementi Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Egypt’s Minister of Investment, Ashraf Salman, to develop a new 320 MW wind energy plant.
The comprehensive agreement also includes the implementation of new projects to use alternative and refuse-derived fuels in the cement plants owned by Suez Cement Group of Companies (part of the Italcementi Group) in Egypt.
The first phase of the wind energy plant (equal to 120 MW) will require an investment of US$200 million. Civil works will be finalised in the coming few months, in order to have the installation of wind energy turbines starting from 2Q15.
