PPC to sponsor South Africa’s Fulton Awards 2015
Fulton Awards
PPC has announced that it will sponsor the Concrete Society of Southern Africa’s (CSSA) Fulton Awards 2015. Beginning in 1979, these awards reward excellence and innovation in the use of concrete. They recognise the concrete structure rather than an individual’s work, so the awards are presented to the team that produces the structure, including the owner/developer, as well as all professionals and contractors involved in the project.
Two of PPC’s clients won awards in 2013 in the ‘Civil Engineering Structure’ and ‘Sustainable Concrete’ categories for their work on the De Hoop Dam project in Limpopo Province.
“Sponsoring an event of this nature not only enhances our leadership position in the industry, but it also shows our true commitment to delivering on our promise of strength beyond the bag. As a company, we remain passionate about investing in initiatives and projects that advance excellence in concrete. We also look forward to strengthening our partnership with the CSSA,” stated Richard Tomes, Managing Director of Cement Sales at PPC.
Domestic sales volumes
In January – September 2013, sales of cementitious materials on South Africa’s domestic market increased by 6.2% y/y. Almost 3.24 million t was dispatched in 3Q13 compared to 2.98 million t in the corresponding period in 2012. These statistics are based on figures received from NLK, which includes PPC Cement, Lafarge, AfriSam, NPC, Ash Resources, Sephuku Ash and Ulula. The sales volumes do not include exports or imports or sales by other companies.
