PPC supports SDA

In 2014, the SAFA Development Agency’s coaching programme was launched in the Eastern Cape, with a view to enabling SAFA’s vision 2022. PPC Ltd has partnered the SAFA Development Agency (SDA) for the pat three years and is a key enabler of the programme, sponsoring a variety of soccer coaching, administration and referee courses – including 24 across the Eastern Cape in the last month. This latest set of C licence courses offered in Nelson Mandela Bay, Sarah Baartman, Amathole, Buffalo City, Chris Hani, OR Tambo, Joe Gqabi and Alfred Nzo Regions. follows on from the D licence training of 2015, which saw just over 300 coaches qualify at D level.

''The C licence course will raise the level of the game in our local communities, with some of the trainees from the programme already coaching at development level,'' notes Dr Robin Peterson, CEO of the SAFA Development Agency. ''This is in line with SAFA''s Vision 2022 – to create national teams that consistently rank in the top three in Africa and the top 20 in the world in six years'' time. To this end, we are working with PPC to meet our target of training 540 C and 180 B licence coaches by the end of 2016.''

''As a business committed to giving back to the communities we operate in, sports development is very high on our agenda,'' says Sibongile Mooko, General Manager of Marketing Services at PPC. ''For us to deliver on our new campaign promise of ‘there''s more to it'', we need to actively demonstrate this in communities – as we have this past month and indeed over the past two years through this programme. We look forward to it changing lives and futures in the region,'' she concludes.
