Dangote Cement sponsors 9th National Council on Environment

World Cement,

Nigeria’s Dangote Group partnered with the Ministry of Environment to sponsor the 9th National Council on Environment held in Benue State earlier this month. The sponsorship is in line with Dangote Cement’s environmental focus aims. The Tanzanian Minister of Environment, Terezya Pius Louga Huvisa, recently praised the cement manufacturer for its low emission levels following a visit to Dangote’s cement plants.

“We are an environment friendly group. Our factories are run within the global acceptable standard. The Dangote Cement’s emission level of 30 mg is far below that of the EU which is 50 mg,” said the Group in a statement.

In 2012, the Dangote Group donated N2.5 billion to help alleviate the impact of flooding in Nigeria and gave US$500 000 to UNICEF last month following an outbreak of measles in certain regions of the country. Over the last two years, the Dangote Foundation donated N1 billion to education programmes, and it is now aiding the Federal Government in the fight against malaria.
