Iran to construct cement plant in Iraq
According to local media, Iran plans to construct a 2 million tpa cement plant in Iraq. The plant is due to begin operations in two years, and will export the produced cement under Iranian brand names. The project represents an investment of around US$245 million.
More than 70 million t of cement was produced in Iran in the Iranian calendar year ending 20 March 2013. The figure is 5.74% higher than the previous year. Domestic consumption levels reached approximately 57 million t during the period. Iran expects its cement production capacity to increase to 110 million t by 2015.
