Cemex focuses on road safety in Egypt

World Cement,

In June 2012, Cemex opened a School for Safe Driving in Egypt to improve safety and reduce traffic accidents by providing audio and video training materials. Since then, almost 4000 drives have joined the programme and over 2000 have completed the five driving modules offered and received Safe Driving Certificates.

Cemex inaugurated a second school in Upper Egypt in December 2011 in association with the Assiut Traffic Authority. Sponsored by Cemex, the school is equipped with computers, sound systems, display screens and training materials. It has a capacity of 74 drivers per day in the main traffic authority building. More than 20 000 drivers have attended the school since its opening.

“Our safety programmes in Egypt follow Cemex’s best-in-class industry standards. We not only work to improve safety awareness among our employees and contractors in many parts of Egypt, but also maximise our social impact by sharing best practices with neighbouring companies and communities,” said Sergio Menéndez, Cemex President in Egypt.
