Iran records a 20% rise in cement exports

According to Iran's Cement Producers Association, the country exported some 3.4 million t of cement during the first two months of the current financial year (beginning 21 March), a 20% y/y increase compared to the same period in 2013.
Abdolreza Sheykhan, an official from the Association, noted that Iran's cement exports are forecast to reach 20.5 million t during the year. Sheykhan further stated that Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Iraq, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Gulf States are the main importers of Iran's cement.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Iran’s total cement output stood at 11.2 million t in the first two months of the current fiscal year. During the same period, the country produced some 12.71 million t of clinker. Cement output for the year ended 21 March 2014 reached 69.68 million t and clinker production totalled 71. 904 million t; 18.812 million t of cement and clinker was exported during the year.
