World Cement,
Sinoma has reported the successful cement mill load test running at the Tanzania Portland Cement Company plant in Tanzania. The plant is adding an additional cement mill and contracted Sinoma Tianjin for the project in January 2013. The mill will have a capacity of 110 tph.
Sinoma previously carried out the cement mill 4 project at the plant and the scope of the CM5 project is similar, with the addition of a new 50 000 t clinker silo. The EPC turnkey contract includes engineering design, procurement, civil construction, erection and commissioning. Sinoma describes the project as difficult, due to the limited working space and the interface with existing equipment.
East Africa’s cement industry is growing at a fast pace, but the domestic producers are facing stiff competition from cheap imports. Local cement production capacity is rising, but costs are high due to a lack of energy infrastructure.
