According to local press reports, the Aden Free Zone Authority (AFZ) and Dar Al-Yemen Co. Ltd have signed an agreement worth US$32 million for the construction of a new cement plant in Yemen. The agreement was signed by Dr. Abdul Galil al-Shaiby, Chairman of AFZA, and Mohammed al-Mansib, Chairman of Dar Al-Yemen Co. Ltd. Dr. al-Shaiby told local press that AFZ is working hard to attract domestic and foreign investments for new economic and infrastructural projects in the region.
According to the agreement, the companies must find a suitable plot of land (approximately 60 000 m2) for the construction of a cement plant. The new facility, which will take around 8 – 11 months to complete, is expected to generate around 250 jobs, and an extra 100 during the construction process.
