The Angop news agency has reported that commissioning at the Kwanza Sul cement plant in Angola is due to begin in October, with production likely to commence in December 2013. Investment in the project is reported at approximately US$600 million. The plant will begin by producing 4200 tpd and will eventually have a cement production rate of 4500 tpd.
The project will generate around 500 jobs and aims to boost social and economic development in the region. As part of the cement plant’s social responsibility programme, houses have been constructed to home 64 families in Cuacra, Kwanza Sul province. The handover ceremony was attended by the Indian Ambassador to Angola, Debraj Pradhan, and the governor of Kwanza Sul, Eusébio de Brito Teixeira.
