Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) sponsored the Enactus Egypt Competition as part of its CSR programme. Enactus encourages an entrepreneurial approach to community development, organising a series of regional and national competitions for students to work on projects with the support of academics and business leaders. Winners of the national competition go on to compete at the annual Enactus World Cup. The 2014 World Cup will take place in Beijing in October, and will group students from 39 countries.

More than 30 state and private universities took part in the competition in Egypt this year. The jury comprised a number of prominent business leaders. SCGC helped to announce the results at a ceremony on 7 July.

When congratulating the winner of this year’s competition, the French University, Suez Cement CEO Bruno Carré stated: “Within the framework of our efforts to create a new generation of skilled and wel1-trained youth, who are able to lead Egypt and put it in a distinguished position on the new map of international economy, the Group took the lead in supporting this project which will contribute to the creation of a new generation equipped with all tools required for the labour market.”

Sustainability forms a key part of Suez Cement’s development plans. SCGC has invested over LE500 million in its environmental and safety policy since 2005.
