CEMEX introduces sustainable products and solutions in the United Arab Emirates

As the first company to introduce lower carbon Cement & Concrete in UAE and in line with the company’s Climate action strategy, more than 50% of CEMEX UAE concrete mixes are sold as Vertua – Lower Carbon. This concrete is used in some of the most prominent projects in the country, saving approximately 55 million kg of CO2 so far.

"In 2021, we launched Vertua concrete in UAE as a rollout of the global launch of innovative products that positively contributes to our Climate Action Strategy," said Rafael Vilallona CEMEX UAE Country Director. "Reaching more than 50% replacement of our concrete mixes to be Vertua speaks volume of UAE awareness and alignment of our strategy with the country’s vision. We aim to reach full adoption of our sustainable products and continue to avail cement & concrete that build a sustainable tomorrow.

Vertua represents one of the pillars of the company’s climate action programme “Future in Action”. The program aims to achieve sustainable excellence through climate action, circularity, and natural resource management with the primary objective of becoming a net-zero CO2 company. Through Future in Action, CEMEX has achieved record-breaking progress in reducing its carbon footprint during recent years.
