World Cement,
Figures show that Iran’s cement production for the calendar year to date is up 4% y/y. Since 21 March (the beginning of the Iranian calendar year) Iran has produced 38.3 million t of cement. Some 6.4 million t was produced in the sixth calendar month alone (running 23 August – 22 September). In all, cement output is targeted to reach 80 million t by the end of the year, and 85 million t by the end of the next Iranian calendar year. This puts Iran as the biggest cement producer in the Middle East and the fourth in the world.
Cement exports
In the first 5 months of the year, 8.064 million t of cement and clinker were exported, an increase of 43.5% y/y. Among the key export markets for Iran are its neighbouring countries, CIS countries, the Middle East, India and China. It was earlier reported that Iran plans to bring exports up to 12 million t this year, though some news sources put this figure much higher at 18.5 million t.
