Rwandan cement producer CIMERWA, part of the PPC Ltd group, has launched new product packaging and a new corporate identity. The company’s cement bags for general purpose cement will now have a bold blue design and those containing 42.5 cement will be bright red.
“It is with great pride and excitement that we present our new corporate identity today,” said Busisiwe Legodi, Chief Executive Officer at CIMERWA. “We have moved from the previous green to a bold blue reflecting the refreshing nature of the business as we go through a rebirth and repositioning of CIMERWA. The previous logo was a closed diamond; the new logo is open, symbolising the bright future of the company and the journey we will be making together towards the top.”
According to CIMERWA, the new corporate branding is representative of the company’s solid, sustainable partnerships. For example, the cement producer works closely with the Rwandan government to support the country’s economic development and foster good corporate citizenship.
The newly launched corporate identity coincides with CIMERWA’s new state-of-the-art production plant in Bugarama, which is expected to begin production in 2H15. The facility will increase the firm’s production capacity six-fold, helping it to meet domestic demand and positioning it to serve export markets in Burundi and Eastern DRC.
“The testing phase, which is the most important in preparing the plant for production, will take at least two months. Our aim is to certify that the new plant operates efficiently and effectively when it is running fully and produces a quality cement to meet Rwanda’s growing demand,” explained Legodi. She went on to add: “We have been in operation for over 30 years and expect the future to offer CIMERWA immense opportunities for growth and participation in Rwanda’s and the region’s development.”
