Modern Cement and Mining Company selects API PRO software

World Cement,

Jordan-based Modern Cement and Mining Company selected API PRO software from API Maintenance Systems for asset management and for business intelligence analysis.

Modern Cement and Mining Company was founded in 2006 by Manaseer Group, which consists of 13 subsidiary companies that cover a wide range of sectors in Jordan.

“We concluded that only API PRO could meet our need for a user-friendly interface, flexible setup and relatively short implementation time,” said Sufian Qtaish, PM Maintenance Chief at Modern Cement and Mining Company.

The API PRO software was chosen ahead of competing products, and the first steps towards a full-blown software implementation have now been carried out.

Maintenance and documentation capabilities already in use

“Already today API PRO provides us with the right overview. It is a great pleasure and relief to have the whole machine park organised in one place; including relevant documentation and instructions,” noted Qtaish.

It is mainly Modern Cement and Mining Company’s maintenance and production teams that will use the API PRO software. The solution will service 50 users, 25 of which will be given full access to the API PRO system, and the remaining 25 users will be fitted with a tailored privilege setup.

“Work orders are assigned to relevant objects; required resources are planned and jobs can be executed. All history, including logs, is stored, so that we can easily trace our activities in the system,” added Qtaish. This feature provides the maintenance and production teams with a wide range of possibilities to control the plant’s essential functions.

“Maintenance Work Procedure management including inspection, planning, improvement, scheduling, contract, service level agreements, performance indicators and much more. It’s easy to use and it should be easy to train the users,” Qtaish continued.

Full-scale implementation in two steps

With the basic system already running, Sufian Qtaish and the rest of the maintenance team will now roll out the full-blown API PRO solution in two steps. After the initial setup of the software is complete, the company will merge existing software solutions to ensure that previous routines will be migrated into the new interfaces.

“At first we focused on the basic API PRO functionality, covering Asset Information and Work Order Management & Planning,” Qtaish explained. “We did, however, make sure that a relevant interface to our existing control system – based on Siemens S7 – is part of the first phase of the project. The second phase of the project should also cover an integration to our Oracle based ERP system, as well as further extension of the API PRO system with modules such as: Stock Control and Purchase Management. The system has wide integration with almost all other ERP systems and other software solutions related to maintenance applications like automation systems.”

The modular API PRO software design makes it easy for Modern Cement and Mining Company to pick and choose the perfect setup for the company. As Qtaish notes, “The modular structure provides the possibility to install only functions that are needed for our business.”

Analytics in the pipeline

Once the key API PRO maintenance solutions features are implemented, the company is looking to harvest and analyse valuable data from its assets.

“We are also interested in doing smarter analysis of our business intelligence data. Here the API PRO Analytics could come in handy. The system is flexible enough to be modified to meet any future Management Of Change, this allows us to develop and grow together with the possibility for any future expansion,” said Qtaish.

It is not only the company’s maintenance personnel that are familiar with the API Maintenance Systems software, top management also follows its implementation closely.

“I know API PRO from my previous occupation at Kemapco in Jordan. I had good experience with the system so it only felt natural to recommend it to the maintenance team at Modern Cement and Mining,” stated Plant Manager Amjad Karajeh.
