Indian company Thermax Limited has been awarded a repeat order from a leading African industrial major. The new order worth Rs.351 crore comprises system design, manufacture, supply and supervision of erection and commissioning of a captive power project for a cement plant.
“We are excited about the business opportunities emerging in Africa. Our two-year project management experience in the continent should really help in seamlessly executing these projects,” said Thermax MD and CEO, M.S. Unnikrishnan.
The power plant will utilise the latest generation AFBC (Atmospheric Fluidised Bed Combustion) boilers and high pressure steam cycle to facilitate optimal plant efficiency. Air-cooled condensers will ensure low water utilisation by the power plant, which has also been designed to respond to varying load requirements of the cement plant. Commissioning is scheduled to take place within 15 – 16 months.
