Leading international lime producer, Carmeuse, is to take over management of a lime plant and associated quarry in Zambia at the beginning of July.
The agreement between Carmeuse and the plant’s owners, Handymain’s Lime and Astro Quarriers, signed back in April, entrusts the Belgium-based company with management of the modern lime plant in Ndola, Zambia. The plant has a production capacity of 0.2 million tpy.
“Carmeuse will bring its geological and technical expertise, as well as its market knowledge, to manage Handyman’s lime assets in the same sustainable way, as it were a Carmeuse plant,” the company said in a press release.
Carmeuse Overseas has been active in the copper belt market since 2010, supplying primarily copper and cobalt mines in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
