Southern Province Cement Company to expand power plant

Saudi Arabia’s Southern Province Cement Company (SPCC) has signed a contract with Wartsila Power Contracting Co. to expand the power plant at its Tahama site. Four heavy fuel diesel units will be added to the plant, with a total capacity of 32 MW. The contract is worth €20.25 million.

SPCC operates three cement plants with a total cement production capacity of over 5.3 million tpa. The Tahama plant produces more than 1.85 million t of clinker a year. Following the retirement of Saad bin Abdulrahman Al-Rumaih from the SPCC Board, Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim Al-Arfaj has been appointed as the representative of the General Organisation for Social Insurance.
