McInnis Cement to utilise forest biomass

Published by , Editor
World Cement,

A cooperative agreement has been signed by McInnis Cement and the Forestry Cooperative Association-St Elzear to study the viability of using forest biomass as a support fuel for the cement plant under construction in Port-Daniel-Gascons.

Forest biomass is in abundant supply in Gaspésie. For the construction McInnis Cement requires a loss cost supply from a local source. ACF - St. Elzear is capable of supplying forest residues, wood chips, sawdust, shavings and bark for use by the cement plant.

McInnis Cement is constructing a 2.2Mta cement plant in the municipality of Port-Daniel-Gascons, in Gaspésie.
