USGS reports on cement shipments for January 2016

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the UnitedStates and Puerto Rico during January 2016 were about 5.3 milliont, down slightly from in January 2015. In January, the leading producing States for Portland and blended cement were Texas, California, Florida,Alabama, and Missouri, in descending order. The leading cement-consuming States (Texas, California, Florida, Louisiana, and Georgia, in descending order) received about 48% of the January.

Clinker production totalled 5.2 million t in January 2016, down by3.5% from the output in January 2015. The leading clinker-producing States in January were, in descending order, Texas, California, Missouri, Alabama, and Florida.

Masonry cement shipments of about 162 000 t in January 2016 were up slightly from those of January 2015. The leading masonry cement-consuming States were, in descending order, Florida, Texas, California, Georgia, andNorth Carolina; these received about 59% of January’s shipments.

January 2016 imports of cement and clinker of almost 604,000 t were 5.6% higher than those in January 2015.
