Growth continues in Colombian cement industry
According to figures released by DANE, grey cement production in Colombia increased by 1.7% y/y in March 2015 to around 1.1 million t. Dispatches on the domestic market reached 1.08 million t during the month, up 3.7% y/y. The biggest increases in dispatches were in Cundinamarca (13.3%), Bogotá (5.7%), Atlántico (13.2%), Bolívar (11.7%), and Antioquia (3.9%).
In January – March 2015, grey cement dispatches on the national market totalled 2.99 million t, 7.7% higher than in the corresponding period in 2014. Meanwhile, production volumes grew by 7.5% y/y to 3.03 million t.
In the 12 months to March 2015, domestic dispatches improved by 8.6% y/y and production levels rose by 9.3% y/y. Growth in dispatches was recorded in 18 of the 21 regions analysed by DANE.
