Lafarge Canada buys James Dick Construction plants

Lafarge Canada Inc. has completed the acquisition of eight ready-mix manufacturing plants from James Dick Construction Ltd in a bit to strengthen the group’s ready-mix concrete business in Ontario.

In a statement on the Lafarge North America website, Bob Cartmel, President and CEO of Lafarge Canada Inc. (Eastern Canada), said: “We’re delighted to welcome the 30 employees from James Dick into the Lafarge family, who will continue to serve as plant, administrative and sales professionals…James Dick Concrete has a proud history of quality and service to customers and a strong commitment to the local community.”

The acquired plants will operate as a separate brand within Lafarge Canada Inc. under separate leadership and under the James Dick Concrete name. “We’re fully committed to maintaining the James Dick brand in the marketplace and operating to the same high standards that they’ve always had,” said Cartmel.

A separate agreement has been made between Lafarge Canada Inc. and Canada Cartage Systems for services related to the delivery of ready mix concrete from the newly acquired plants.
