Third line planned for Venezuelan cement plant

World Cement,

A third production line will be established at the Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem) plant in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Venezuela. The new line, which is expected to begin operating at the end of this year, will increase the plant’s capacity from 2.5 million t to 5 million t. The project will create around 250 direct jobs and help to meet demand driven by infrastructure projects and the country’s house building scheme ‘La Gran Misión Vivienda Venezuela’.

The announcement was made by Industry Minister José David Cabello during a recent inspection of the cement plant. The project represents an investment of US$144 million. It will be supported by the ‘China Fund’, which forms part of a trade agreement between Venezuela and China.
