Cementos Lima and Cemento Andino announce merger

Peruvian cement manufacturers, Cemento Andino and Cementos Lima have announced their merger, following shareholder approval on Tuesday. The merger will take place in October and the new company will reportedly be named Union Andina de Cementos SAA. Cementos Lima currently has the largest installed cement and clinker capacity in Peru, at 5.5 million t and 4.8 million t respectively. Cementos Andino has the third largest capacity, at 2.1 million t cement and 1.88 million clinker.

The Peruvian cement industry has been experiencing steady growth. Production levels rose from 751 616 t in May to 771 040 t in June, whilst sales grew from 761 919 t to 765 862 t.
