ASTM develops new standard

World Cement,
A new ASTM International test method has been released that aims to help determine the hydraulic capacity of treatment devices that filter stormwater runoff. The standard has been developed by Committee C27 on Precast Concrete Products, and will primarily be used by labs, manufacturers, engineers and potentially watershed districts.
“This standard will help ensure that treatment devices have adequate capacity to treat expected stormwater runoff flow rates,” says ASTM member Dr. Peter Weiss, a professor in the department of civil engineering at Valparaiso University. “This will help ensure that the design flow rate can be adequately treated. It will also enable accurate comparisons among all units being considered because they will have had their hydraulic capacity tested and reported in an identical manner.”
