Gemcom Software International to be acquired by Dassault Systèmes
Dassault Systèmes, which specialises in 3D design, 3D digital mock up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, plans to acquire Gemcom Software International for approximately US$360 million. Canada-based Gemcom provides software solutions, including geological modelling and simulation for the mining industry. A new brand, GEOVIA, will be created following the completion of the acquisition, which is set to occur in July 2012. GEOVIA will be headed by Gemcom’s President and CEO, Rick Moignard.
President and CEO of Dassualt Systèmes, Bernard Charlès, stated: “With the acquisition of Gemcom, coupled with our 3D Experience platform capabilities, our objective is to model and simulate our planet, improving predictability, efficiency, safety and sustainability within the Natural Resources industry and beyond.”
“This acquisition will clearly benefit Gemcom’s customer base, bringing global support and enterprise collaboration. Advanced technologies in 3D modelling and simulation will not only enable engineers and geologists to model and visualise resources but also improve sustainable mine productivity,” said Moignard.
