Green building expert joins NRMCA to promote concrete solutions

World Cement,

The US National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has announced the appointment of Gregg Lewis, AIA, LEED AP, as Senior Director – Building Innovations. Lewis will provide technical expertise to developers and design professionals to help them to incorporate state-of-the-art concrete solutions into their building projects.

An award-winning architect with more than two decades of experience in creating sustainable and economical building designs, Lewis is an advocate for green building. He helped to develop the Cradle to Cradle Home Design Competition, which challenges designers around the world to include life-cycle considerations into building design and construction. Whilst working with AECOM, he coordinated design, technical assistance and economic analysis for a number of USAID Haiti earthquake recovery projects. In addition, he has founded More For Our Money, a non-profit group that raises public and legislative awareness regarding competition and value in Virginia’s highway infrastructure.

“Gregg’s addition will help NRMCA strengthen its presence in the building sector nationally, ensuring the concrete is well represented,” said Robert Garbini, NRMCA President. “With the growing emphasis on life-cycle cost analysis, resilient construction and energy efficiency in the building industry, it is important that the concrete industry underscores its strengths in those areas.”
