FLSmidth has signed an EPC contract with Cemex for the supply of a new cement production line to be installed at the company's Odessa plant in western Texas, USA. Once the installation is finished, the cement production line is expected to have a capacity of approximately 2540 tpd.

The expansion will utilise state-of-the-art production technology resulting in higher fuel efficiency and improved productivity. The equipment scope includes a 5-stage ILC preheater with a Low NOX Calciner, 3-pier kiln, FLSmidth® Cross-Bar® cooler, Duoflex® burner, Pfister® weighing and dosing systems, gas analysers, three Fuller-Kinyon® pumps, as well as an FLSmidth control system for efficient operation.

"FLSmidth has a very strong local presence in the US, and the new production line will help Cemex keep pace with the rapidly growing cement demand from the oil and gas industry in the West Texas market," said Per Mejnert Kristensen, President of FLSmidth’s Cement Division. The order will be booked by the Cement Division and contribute beneficially to FLSmidth's earnings until late 2016.

New Bolivian order

It has been reported in the Bolivian media that FLSmidth has signed a contract with Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento S.A. (SOBOCE) for the supply of equipment and machinery for a cement plant in Bolivia. FLSmidth has confirmed that this information is correct. The company will inform the market if and when the contract is finalised and becomes binding.
