PCA to showcase resilient construction techniques at Greenbuild 2014

Nine years after Hurricane Katrina, one of the costliest weather events in US history, the construction of durable buildings that can withstand the destruction caused by natural disasters is still a top priority for many that reside in the Gulf Coast area.
During the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, which will take place on 22 – 24 October 2014 at the Morial Convention Centre in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) will showcase resilient construction options and discuss methods of preparation for the impact of natural disasters.
A recent study has shown that every dollar spent on reducing the potential impact of natural disasters saves the US society an average of US$4. Resilient construction can reduce the damage caused by major storms, minimising the energy and resources required for response, reconstruction, repair and recovery, which will result in massive cost savings for communities.
