Cemex companies recognised as suppliers of choice by Alabama chapter of ABC
Cemex-owned Ready Mix USA and Block USA have been recognised as the supplier of choice by the Alabama Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) organisation.

We are proud to be recognized for successfully meeting our customer’s needs while providing top quality products and solutions for these large and complex projects,” said Marc Tyson, Cemex USA’s Regional President – Mid South Region.
Excellence in Construction – Supplier Category
Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children Expansion Project
Ready Mix USA was awarded the “Excellence in Construction” Award in the Supplier category for its work with the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children expansion in Birmingham, Alabama.
The fast-track project required more than 52 000 yd3 of ready-mixed concrete. Pouring for the project began in March 2010 and was completed in the summer of 2011. The company’s Flowable Fill concrete resolved the issue of underground voids, which were not discovered until after the project began. Ready Mix USA also successfully provided concrete for the 729 000 ft2 building, deep foundations, and the connecting bridges and tunnels.
Merit Award – Supplier Category
Hueytown High School Construction
Block USA was recognised as a key supplier for increasing efficiency and reducing labour costs for the 287 000 ft2 Hueytown High School in Hueytown, AL. Nearly 500 000 concrete masonry units were produced and delivered to the project, which was completed in July 2011.
In each market and locality in which Cemex operates the company aims to provide its customers with the most compelling integrated building solutions.
