Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children Expansion Project

Ready Mix USA was awarded the “Excellence in Construction” Award in the Supplier category for its work with the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children expansion in Birmingham, Alabama.

The fast-track project required more than 52 000 yd3 of ready-mixed concrete. Pouring for the project began in March 2010 and was completed in the summer of 2011. The company’s Flowable Fill concrete resolved the issue of underground voids, which were not discovered until after the project began. Ready Mix USA also successfully provided concrete for the 729 000 ft2 building, deep foundations, and the connecting bridges and tunnels.
