Companies bid for greenfield cement plant contract in Bolivia
After calling for tenders for the construction of a greenfield cement plant in Oruro, Bolivia’s Ecebol has announced that nine companies have put forward bids. The scope of the contract, which is worth approximately US$247 million, includes plant design, construction and equipment. The winning bid is due to be announced around 28 March 2014.
The plant will have a clinker production capacity of 3000 tpd and a cement output of some 1.3 million tpa. It is expected to come online in 2017, helping to meet local cement demand and covering an estimated 20% of the domestic market.
According to Ecebol Technical Manager José Luis Jiménez, the cement plant will create economic and employment opportunities, as well as providing the country’s construction industry with a product that meets international standards.
