Latin America sees rise in cement sales in July

According to the latest results from ASOCEM, domestic cement sales in Peru came in at 880 277 t in July 2013, while exports reached 16 349 t. Cement sales in January – July 2013 registered growth of 11% compared to the corresponding period last year.

In Argentina, sales increased on both a m/m and y/y basis in July. Cement despatches rose by 11.3% y/y to more than 1 million t, including exports. This figure is 9% higher than that of June 2013. In July, domestic consumption was up 9.9% m/m and 11.1% y/y.

The latest statistics published by INECYC reveal that cement sales also increased in Ecuador in July. Sales grew from 521 829 t in July 2012 to 584 767 t in July of this year. On an accumulated basis, cement sales in Ecuador reached approximately 3.69 million t between January and July 2013.

Meanwhile, La Razón has reported that Insumos Bolivia would consider increasing cement import levels should demand in the country rise. Cement production in Bolivia in 1H13 was 8.5% greater than in 1H12.
