World Cement,
Three US$5000 college scholarships have been awarded to the children of current Essroc Cement’s and Saylor’s Portland Cement Brand’s 150th Anniversary. Of the three winners, one of the employees works in the Information Technology Department in Nazareth, PA., one is employed by Essroc Ready Mix in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and one works in the lab at our Speed, IN. plant.
The Scholarship Committee, who anonymously reviewed the applications, had a difficult objective. They needed to select the most well-rounded and balanced of the almost sixty applications that were received. "Each one of the applicants were deserving in their own right," stated Brent Edwards, vice president, commercial and construction materials. "We learned a great deal about the applicants, their desires, as well as what drove them to excellence. Every candidate that applied for the scholarships should be very proud of their far-reaching achievements."
