Spectris acquires Claisse
Spectris has announced that it has acquired La Corporation Scientifique Claisse, Inc. (Claisse), a Canadian-based sample preparation specialist for atomic spectroscopy. Its analysis equipment is used in industrial and mining applications, in addition to academic research and the pharmaceutical sector. The company achieved CA$13 million in revenue for the year ending March 2014. The acquisition comprises Claisse’s business and assets, the purchase price for which has not been disclosed.
Claisse will form part of Spectris’ Materials Analysis unit and will be integrated into PANalytical, thereby combining two leaders in fusion and XRF analysis.
“Claisse is a strong strategic addition to Spectris’ Materials Analysis segment as it deepens our presence within the sample preparation market,” commented Eoghan O’Lionaird, Business Group Director.
