Lehigh Hanson cement plant awarded an ENERGY STAR®

Lehigh Hanson, Inc.’s cement plant in Union Bridge, Md., has been awarded an ENERGY STAR® by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The certification is indicative of the plant’s impressive performance in line with strict EPA energy efficiency levels, and signifies that it is one of the 25 top cement plants in the country in terms of energy efficiency.

“At the Lehigh Cement plant in Union Bridge, we are committed to operating in a safe and environmentally responsible manner,” commented Kent Martin, Plant Manager. “Earning the ENERGY STAR certification clearly demonstrates this commitment and we are proud to be recognised by the EPA for our superior energy performance.”

“Improving the energy efficiency of our nation's industrial facilities is critical to protecting our environment,” stated Jean Lupinacci, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch. “From the plant floor to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their facilities more energy efficient and earning EPA's ENERGY STAR.”
