World Cement,
A draft highway bill has been announced in the US that would fund infrastructure jobs through to FY21. The US House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee released the draft Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act of 2015 and commented that it would help Americans spend less time in traffic, facilitate commerce and economic growth and improve quality of life. In a statement, the committee added that the bill is fiscally responsible and welcomes innovations to make the system safer and more efficient.
Commenting on the bill, Pam Whitted, NSSGA Senior Vice President of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, said: “There have been 34 short term extensions of transportation funding since 2009, so we are very pleased to see a six-year bill that allows state and local governments to undertake much-needed large-scale and complex projects. We are closer than ever to seeing a long-term transportation bill. We encourage members of Congress to continue down this road and avoid another short-term extension.”
