ASTM Bryant Mather Award given to Gregory S. Barger

The Bryant Mather Award from the ASTM International Committee C01 on Cement has been given to Gregory S. Barger of Ash Grove Cement Company. The award recognises Barger’s outstanding contributions to the development and continuing improvement of C01 standards and the advancement of knowledge related to Portland and blended cements.
Barger is the Technical Centre Director of Ash Grove Cement and joined ASTM in 1988. He was named an honourary member of both C01 and C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates in 2009. As a member at large on the C01 executive subcommittee, he has received several awards for his work, including the Award of Merit and the title of Fellow – ASTM’s highest honour for contributions to standards activities. Barger also serves on Committees C12 on Mortars and Grouts for Unit Masonry and C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units. Outside ASTM, Barger is a fellow of the American Concrete Institute, and a member of the American Ceramic Society – Cements Division and the Portland Cement Association. He holds two US patents.
