Peru’s construction sector achieved its 12th year of consecutive growth in 2013
In the first month of 2014, Peruvian cement manufacturers associated with ASOCEM dispatched 824 137 t of cement on the domestic market. The figure is 3.10% lower than in January 2013. Exports reached 17 220 t during the month.
According to the INEI (Peru’s National Institute of Statistics and Information), economic growth of 5.02% was achieved in 2013, driven by positive results across a number of sectors, especially the construction, financial and fishing industries. The construction sector grew by 8.56% in 2013, its twelfth year of accumulated growth. The industry was boosted by infrastructure work, commercial centres and housing. In December 2013 alone, construction was up by 2.26%.
