Flexicon Corporation begins work on massive expansion project

Flexicon Corporation is doubling the size its global headquarters in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as demand for its equipment increases.

"We built the current 8500 m2 facility in 2001 on an over-sized site owned by Flexicon that had additional prime real estate beyond what was needed for the 2001 building, with the intention of expanding the building as demand for Flexicon equipment exceeded our capacity to produce it," says President/CEO David Gill.

The extra space will double the size of the Steel Forming, Welding, Grinding/Polishing and Blasting/Painting Departments, while the Assembly Department will be eight times larger than before and will have up to 11.6 m of overhead clearance to enable the erection of larger systems and to enhance factory acceptance testing. Also included in the addition is a dedicated 370 m2 area for new product development and 10 tailgate loading docks and two drive-in doors.

"Doubling the size of our world headquarters will have the immediate effect of reducing wait times for equipment deliveries," says Mr. Gill, "while allowing us to develop new product lines and secure patents on an accelerated basis, positioning Flexicon for exponential growth."

Construction of the addition has already begun.

Flexicon produces Flexible Screw Conveyors, Tubular Cable Conveyors, Pneumatic Conveying Systems, Bulk Bag Dischargers, Bulk Bag Conditioners, Bulk Bag Fillers, Bag Dump Stations, Drum/Box/Container Tippers, and Weigh Batching Systems. A Project Engineering Division manages large-scale bulk handling projects across the chemical, mineral, food, dairy and pharmaceutical industries worldwide.
