January 2015 cement statistics: Peru and Argentina
Peru
According to Asocem, cement dispatches were 0.9% higher in January 2015 than they were in January 2014, with production volumes up 3% y/y. However, domestic dispatches were down 1.7% when compared with the corresponding month in 2014. This decline has been attributed to heavy rains in Peru’s sierras and forests, as well as local and regional government changes. With a wide range of public and private projects in the country, Asocem hopes for a quick recovery for national dispatch volumes.
Argentina
Portland cement plants dispatched some 944 215 t of cement in January, including exports. According to AFCP, this is 4.3% higher than in December 2014 and 1.3% higher than in January 2014. Domestic consumption, including imports, reached 927 737 t. This represents growth of 4% m/m and 1.9% y/y.
