As part of a plan to increase production capacity in response to demand and local market preference, CEMEX Dominicana is investing US$6 million to increase the packaging and palletizing capacity at its cement plant in San Pedro de Macoris, the Dominican Republic.
The company will install a new cement packing unit, which will increase capacity by over 1.5 million additional bags each month. This will bring the total capacity of packing and palletising to 2.4 million t of cement annually. The company has also constructed a warehouse with an area of 1275 m2 for the installation of the new packaging and palletising line. Further plans are in place to add to the plant’s grinding capacity in the coming months.
CEMEX Dominicana President, Carlos Emilo Gonzalez, commented: "With this investment, we cover demand for the next five years and guarantee an immediate positive impact on our customer service, minimising loading times."
