Companies associated with Peru’s cement association, ASOCEM, dispatched 847 982 t of cement on the country’s domestic market in June 2014. Meanwhile, exports came in at 20 461 t. In 1H14, domestic cement dispatches increased by 0.84% y/y.

According to INEI, the Peruvian economy grew by 1.84% in May 2014, with all sectors demonstrating positive growth in the first five months of the year. In May alone, activity in the country’s construction industry improved by 4.75%, boosted by greater public investment in road and bridge infrastructure. Higher activity in terms of commercial and office buildings helped to drive cement demand.
