Exports drive cement dispatch growth in Peru in March
According to Peru’s Asocem, there were some signs of revival for the cement market in March 2015. Production increased by 2%, while total dispatches improved by 0.1%. The rise in dispatches has largely been attributed to export volumes, which grew by more than 50%.
However, dispatch volumes on the Peruvian domestic market declined for a third consecutive month. According to Ascocem, this is due to a number of factors, including low government spending capacity, weather conditions, the strengthening of the dollar and the current political climate.
