On 14 May 2020, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) announced the winners of 2019 Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards, which recognise outstanding safety performance in the manufacturing of Portland cement, the core ingredient used in all forms of concrete. Lehigh Hanson’s Permanente and Tehachapi cement plants in California received this prestigious award.

The awards were presented in a video from the US Department of Labour's Mine Safety and Health Administration Assistant Secretary, David Zatezalo. Click here to view the video presentation.

“Creating and sustaining a safe work environment is a top priority for all of us at Lehigh Hanson,” said Nathan Kimball, Vice President of Safety & Health for Lehigh Hanson, Inc. “These two facilities exemplify safety leadership for our company and our industry.”

“We’re proud to highlight these top safety performers,” said PCA Chairman and President of Continental Cement, Tom Beck. “Our industry is constantly focused on doing everything possible to ensure our employees go home in the same condition as they arrived.”
